Keys-to-Success Piano Studio

Policies

Please read carefully, sign and return with your registration form:

1.  Policies: PLEASE READ!
Please arrive 5 minutes before your lesson time. (If you arrive earlier than 5 minutes please wait in your car until it is time so as not to disrupt the lesson before yours)
Students are expected to behave in a respectful and polite manner. Students who choose to misbehave, be impolite or disrespectful will have their lesson cut short.
Students are expected to come to their lessons prepared, having practiced, and having done their assigned work. Students are expected to follow directions given in the lesson.
Students who come unprepared to their lessons will be given a “practice” lesson. Students who repeatedly come to lessons unprepared, and who fail to do the assigned work, do not participate and are unmotivated may be put on notice.
Please keep your nails trimmed.
All absences are unexcused except for serious illness or emergency.
Students are encouraged to attend one group class per month. Dates will be sent in August.

PLEASE NOTE: A semester’s notice is required for cessation of lessons.

2.  Policies during COVID-19 Pandemic:
You will receive the updated policy regarding any COVID notifications in August.

3.   Policies regarding make-up lessons:  Some parents have asked for clarification.
Make-up lessons will only be given if:

A student is genuinely ill and cannot make it to the lesson
If there is a family emergency
If I am out of town/ill or have a conflict.

Please note:  In these cases I will offer specific make-up days during the semester. However, I am not in a position to keep offering different times/days to suit a student’s/parents’ busy schedules.  After 2 attempts the lesson will be considered made up.

Please note that I do not make up lessons for the following:

A student’s play date with a friend
A birthday party
A social outing with friends/family
A sudden change in plans
An appointment that clashes with a lesson time
A student’s/family trip out of town, if it falls on a lesson day  – see below to plan ahead.
School events that occur at the same time – see below to plan ahead.
Students having school trips need to take the responsibility, plan ahead and arrange a swap with someone else during that week. I simply do not have the time over the weekends to make up all the lessons missed for school trips, band trips, sport trips etc.

Please note: if a make-up lesson is scheduled at a mutually acceptable and confirmed time, and the student fails to arrive for that lesson, it will not be rescheduled.

In these instances students need to find someone with whom to switch lessons, and to arrange it well in advance. I cannot spend every weekend making up lessons. I am generally busy over weekends, judging, at festivals, performances, teaching group classes, performance classes etc, and I also need time to spend with my family.

4.  Policy regarding Sickness/Illness:
Please be considerate of me, other students and families. If your child is ill, has a fever, or a viral illness please keep them at home.
If a student has a bad cold and is constantly blowing his/her nose, sneezing etc – stay home!
If a student has a bad cough, and is constantly coughing …..stay home!
Germs spread so easily over the piano keys!!
We will continue to keep abreast of any COVID related outbreaks.  If you or a family member is exposed to or tests positive, notify me immediately.

Policy regarding bad weather and Snow Days…….
In the event that I need to cancel lessons due to snow days/bad weather days, will offer        online Zoom lessons instead during the student’s scheduled time.  All students are now familiar with this platform.

I hope that this speaks to any doubts, questions you might have.   As always, please feel free to call me or e-mail me with any questions/concerns .

Many thanks,
Laureen Di Bisceglie, M.Mus. NCTM
